The acquisition, which took effect on 31st December 2025, represents a further development of The McKinstry Company, which offers a range of services across the legal spectrum including all aspects of property transactions, Wills and inheritance tax planning, business law, litigation and family law. With over 40 years in business, the firm’s commitment to excellence remains as strong as ever.

The McKinstry Company provides expert legal advice to people and businesses. Its Partners are supported by a team of experienced solicitors and together offer in-depth knowledge and expertise across a wide range of legal services. The firm now comprises 4 Partners with 15 Solicitors in total across 3 offices, which are located in Girvan at 146 Dalrymple Street; in Ayr at 39 Sandgate; and in Dalry at 44 New Street.

The principal of Lambert & Co., Alistair Lambert, will continue as Consultant to The McKinstry Company until the summer following the acquisition to ensure a smooth transition of the business. The McKinstry Company are also happy to welcome all of Alistair’s existing colleagues to The McKinstry Company team at the Girvan office. The team from Lambert & Co. will relocate to The McKinstry Company's existing offices at 146 Dalrymple Street. This brings together the two longstanding Girvan practices of Murray & Tait and Lambert & Co. all under the "roof" of The McKinstry Company.

On completion of the acquisition, Robert Honeyman, Managing Partner, commented:
