Ross MacKinnon

Trainee Solicitor

Bio

Originally from Falkirk, Ross has recently joined The McKinstry Company at our Ayr office as a Trainee Solicitor. Ross completed his LLB at the University of Glasgow, followed by an LLM which centred on Intellectual Property and environmental law courses. He recently completed the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Glasgow, during which he developed his interest in pursuing Conveyancing as a legal career.

During his time at university, Ross completed the European Human Rights Project and the Finance and Social Justice Project, both of which enhanced his communication skills and teamworking ability. He will look to utilise these skills working alongside Kirsty and the rest of the Conveyancing department during his Traineeship.

In the Diploma, Ross represented Scotland at the Brown Mosten International Client Consultation Competition in Maastricht, Netherlands, which provided valuable experience interviewing clients and confirmed his interest in the client-side of legal work.

Ross previously worked part time as a swimming teacher and as a private Maths tutor. He enjoys tailoring his approach to working which lends itself nicely to working in the legal sector.

Outside of work, Ross is very keen on exercise. He is a regular gym goer, enjoys playing football and tennis, and is a keen hillwalker - when the weather allows for it! He is passionate about films, games and the environment, and is looking forward to having the opportunity to explore an area of the country that he has very little prior experience in.
