Emma Clark

Trainee Solicitor

Bio

Emma has recently joined the McKinstry Company, at our Girvan office, as a Trainee Solicitor. Local to Ayr, Emma completed her LLB at The University of Edinburgh and shortly after completed her Diploma at the University of Aberdeen.

Over the course of her LLB she was active in the University of Edinburgh Mooting Society, which initiated her curiosity in court work. Alongside her Diploma studies, she was fortunate to have gained insight into life at the Scottish Bar as a ‘Mini Devil’ with the Faculty of Advocates in Edinburgh. Emma shadowed an advocate in civil practice for four months, observed cases in the Commercial Court and acted as defence counsel in a Criminal Mock Trial event. Emma is keen public speaker and is excited to gain more experience in litigation as her Traineeship progresses.

Having chosen to do a mixed seat traineeship, she is currently in our Private Client department and is enjoying the people aspect of life in practice. She is interested in contentious areas of law and in the history of law and is currently busy writing an article on Legal Rights in Scotland.

Outside of work, Emma ‘enjoys’ keeping fit in the gym and horse-riding where time allows. Emma admits that she has little respite with her five dogs. She enjoys cooking at home, particularly pasta dishes. She is also a keen artist having previously studied at the Glasgow School of Art holding a BA (Hons) Fine Art where she focused on oil painting.
