Bio
Debbie is head of our Private Client department and works between our three offices but is principally based in Ayr. Her particular expertise is advising on estate planning and inheritance tax mitigation but is involved in all areas of private client work; Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, the administration of estates and setting up charities.
Debbie graduated from the University of Glasgow with joint honours Law and French, having spent her third year studying in France at L’universite d’Auvergne in Clermont- Ferrand. After graduation she spent two years teaching English in Rome before returning to Glasgow to undertake the Diploma in Legal Practice.
Debbie joined the firm in 2016 having trained at Maclay, Murray & Spens LLP and worked in both Glasgow and Edinburgh until she met her husband who is a local farmer. She has tutored Private Client on the Post Graduate Diploma at both the Graduate School of Law and the University of Glasgow and used to regularly author articles for the STEP journal.
Debbie has been a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) since 2009 and holds the STEP Advanced Certificate in Advising Family Businesses
Weekends are now spent on the farm with her young daughter who already has a keen interest in tractors and baa baas.
