We seek to build a relationship with our clients, rather than simply completing a transaction. Dynamic and forward thinking, we are a Law Firm for Life.
Colin is a member of our Litigation team experienced in all aspects of civil and commercial litigation, specialising in family law, debt recovery, contract disputes, property litigation and employment law.
Family law is a particular interest and Colin regularly advises clients on all aspects of this area of law, including in particular separation, divorce, cohabitation, contact with children, adoption and pre-nuptial agreements.
Colin has been involved in a number of high value and complex cases and has had success appearing for clients in the Sheriff Court, in property and employment Tribunals and in arbitrations.
He handles disputes of all sizes, having acted on behalf of large companies, including a number of multi-nationals, as well as for individuals and businesses of all sizes in between. Colin recognises the benefit of tailoring the approach in each case – some clients will require a direct, robust approach while others may want a more nuanced approach. This skill is particularly helpful in family law, where selecting the correct tone is regularly more effective than straightforward aggression, particularly where the parties are on reasonably amicable terms.
Colin takes an honest and commercially sensible approach to dispute resolution, always keeping an eye on the bigger picture and the client’s end goal.
Colin joined us in January 2018 having worked in a similar role for a well-respected Glasgow Firm for 9 years followed by 18 months experiencing life in Nova Scotia, Canada.
Previously a keen rugby player for Stewartry, Watsonians and West of Scotland, Colin played age-group rugby for Scotland, captained the West of Scotland first team to promotion in 2007 and later joined the club’s committee. Colin is now assistant coach of the successful Ayr under-18 men’s team. He also enjoys travelling and other sports including football, fishing and golf.
