Financial Considerations

It is important that you continue to have a reliable source of income when you retire.  You may wish to explore investment options or even set up a trust to protect particular assets.  Either way, it is vital that you get your finances in order.  We can help you conduct a review of your assets and understand what might work for you.

Downsizing your Property

It is also worthwhile considering whether your property will work for you in your retirement and, if not, whether you may want to downsize.  Again, we can advise you on your options and assist in any purchase and sale.   We have local property experts on hand to advise you on the market conditions and ensure a smooth, streamlined transition to your retirement property. In most cases the cash recognised is tax free.

Family Business Planning

Finally, if you operate your own business, it is important to consider succession planning.  You will need to understand who will run the business when you retire, whether it will remain in your family or whether it will be sold.  As a full-service law firm, we can draw on our experience in estate planning and business law to provide you with clear and comprehensive advice.
