Do I need a solicitor to sell my house?

Every property bought and sold in Scotland requires the involvement of a solicitor. Please contact one of our Property team who will talk you through the process and assist with your home move.

My offer for a property has been accepted - what do I do now?

A solicitor requires to be instructed to undertake the formal legal process. Please contact one of our Property team who can talk you through the process of selling your property and the fees involved.

What is the cost of buying/selling my house?

The McKinstry Company offers competitive fees for property transactions. There are certain registration costs and charges imposed which cannot be avoided. Our Property team will talk you through the fees and outlays involved in your transaction so that you are aware of all the costs at the outset.

I have paid off my mortgage - do I need to instruct a solicitor to discharge my mortgage?

The mortgage over your property does not automatically disappear from your title deeds and a formal Discharge requires to be prepared. Please contact one of our Conveyancing team who can liaise with your bank or building society to have the document prepared and executed.

I want to transfer the title to my house to my children - can The McKinstry Company help me with this?

The McKinstry Company can offer you advice about the best way to protect your home from care home costs. Contact our reception to arrange an appointment with one of our experienced solicitors.
