A law firm for life

Cohabitation

It is increasingly common for couples to live together on a long-term basis without getting married or entering into a civil partnership – but this doesn’t necessarily mean there are no legal implications of such a relationship. If you are living with a partner and want to formalise your financial or child care arrangements, or where a relationship with a cohabiting partner has broken down, we can help. Our expert family law team have helped many couples find security in cohabitation or guided them through relationship breakdown. To discuss your specific needs and circumstances with a solicitor who can help, contact us today by calling 01292 281 711 or email our solicitors directly using the contact details below.

Expert Cohabitation Legal Advice Ayr, Girvan and Dumfries

Cohabiting couples can often feel unsure about what cohabiting really means, and we don’t like to consider what will happen if the relationship breaks down. If you are buying property with a cohabiting partner or you have children together, it can be useful to put into place a cohabitation agreement to ensure both parties are on the same page should the relationship break down. Our lawyers can assist you in the preparation of such an agreement to ensure the best outcome for you and your family.

I have purchased a property with my partner, but we are not married and I contributed to the deposit – will I be able to get that money back if we separate?

Agreements protecting the assets of one party to a relationship are increasingly common and can be drafted to meet your specific needs. Please contact us to arrange an appointment with one of our solicitors, who can advise you of the options available to protect your interests.
