Who are The McKinstry Company?

We are one of Ayrshire’s largest firms of solicitors with a first class reputation. We are a truly local firm, serving the whole of Ayrshire for over 30 years, and conveniently located in Ayr and Girvan town centres.

What services can The McKinstry Company offer me?

We offer a full range of legal services to you, your family and your business. Established in 1984, The McKinstry Company has gone from strength to strength as a result of being an integral part of our community.

Where are your offices?

We have offices at Queens Court House, 39 Sandgate, Ayr, KA7 1BE and 146 Dalrymple Street, Girvan, KA26 9BQ. Our reception can help you confirm the location of your appointment and also provide directions, or you can click for information here.

How do I contact you?

Our contact details are here and we are open from 9.00am until 5.30pm Monday to Thursday, and 9.00am to 5.00pm on Friday.

Do your offices have disability friendly access?

Yes, both our Ayr and Girvan offices have recently been refurbished and allow full disabled access on the ground floor. Our offices have wheelchair ramp access and modern office accommodation on ground level.

What does it cost to instruct a solicitor?

Our solicitors will confirm the cost of our service when they meet with you. This will depend on what service we provide, though we do offer a number of funding options for all clients and can provide details on request. In many cases, we can offer an initial consideration of your circumstances without charge.

Do I qualify for Legal Aid?

The McKinstry Company is a registered provider of Legal Aid and can offer Legal Aid for certain areas of work. The final decision rests with the Scottish Legal Aid Board for providing such assistance, but in any event, we can assist you and perhaps discuss other funding options. An appointment with one of our Legal Aid solicitors is the first step and can be arranged by telephoning our reception.

Do I require to meet a solicitor before you can act for me?

Yes. We require to take detailed instruction from you and in our experience, it is always better in person. At the same time, we can discuss funding of your case.

I work 9am to 5pm – can I get an appointment to fit around my working hours?

Yes. At The McKinstry Company we both appreciate and understand time is precious and that the pressures of everyday events can make it difficult to attend a regular appointment. We also understand the importance of the local community and what it takes to ensure it thrives, so we can offer an initial appointment outwith our usual business hours.

Can you visit me at home?

We can provide an initial meeting at home for our disabled clients and for those whose injuries prevent a meeting taking place at our offices.

Can I use email to communicate with my solicitor?

Yes. At The McKinstry Company we pride ourselves on our innovation and as such you will have direct access to your solicitor and their secretary via email.

Can I leave feedback?

Yes, please do. We encourage feedback as it allows us to understand our clients and appreciate their needs. We try to publish as much as we can, so keep an eye out on our feedback page for your own comments.

How can I be kept informed?

For the duration of the period we work for you, we will provide regular updates. Following the conclusion of the work carried out, we will remain in contact with you as it is our ethos that we are a law firm for life. We would normally ask if you wish to be registered for our newsletter – why not take a few moments to do this, it is quick, free and will keep you informed. Register here.
