ANOTHER ACCOLADE AT THE MCKINSTRY COMPANY
Karen Ross, who was appointed Cashier at leading and expanding law practice The McKinstry Company in June 2014 when she succeeded Irene Smith who had previously served in that position for over twenty five years, has been promoted to the position of Financial Controller.
This promotion reflects the recognition which has recently been granted to Karen upon her achieving the status of becoming a member of the Society of Law Accountants in Scotland. Obtaining that prestigious qualification requires substantial home study and the passing of three academic papers in the subjects of Cashroom Accounting and Administration, Investment and Executry Administration and Feeing.
The course is convened by the Society of Law Accountants in Scotland and Karen attended classes in Glasgow over an academic year completing all three examinations and obtaining a pass with distinction in each. This is an exceptional accomplishment.
Karen’s achievements were recognised at a recent graduation ceremony at the Royal Faculty of Procurators of Glasgow when she received her Diploma from Tina Heywood, Head of Financial Compliance at the Law Society of Scotland. Senior Partner, Graeme McKinstry commented “Karen’s achievement is formidable given the extremely heavy workload which she discharged on a day to day basis and undertaking a part-time course of study including evening classes held by the Society, completing assignments and then passing, with distinction, three arduous academic examinations is testament to her intelligence, diligence and application of the role which has been assigned to her.
Given the continuing development of the practice the role of the Financial Controller is pivotal to the operations of the business both from the perspectives of ensuring regulatory compliance and assisting in first class client delivery and I am delighted that Karen’s achievements have been formally recognised”.
